No coverage

Last weekend, I spent half a day working from home and almost a full day working in the office. I had to get my designs out by Monday after spending almost two weeks looking at them. The design aim is to achieve best network coverage for our customer while minimizing interference. An example of my simulation showing the prediction plot:

I usually do not think much about work when I get out of office. Few nights ago, I was feeling rather exhausted after continuously working for days and went to bed before Adrian. When he came in, he heard me mumbling, and thought I was talking to him. He said I sounded like I was half complaining and half telling him off. It wasn't clear, so he kept asking me what it was. I got rather annoyed and started drawing 3 circles on his palm, feeling too tired to explain. He was still puzzled, so in the end I gathered my energy and uttered "No coverage!"

He immediately left me alone and went to bed.

The next morning we had a good laugh, but perhaps I need to learn how to shut down my brain during my sleep.

Adrian's Corner

Okonomiyaki - Japanese savoury pancake.
Missed a shot of a properly served meal on plate with lots and lots of mayo on top.

Maggi Mee Goreng. On a lazy Saturday noon.

Seafood pasta with homemade tomato sauce base

Adrian's version of homemade chicken rice.
Served with ginger, coriander, fried shallots & garlic in sesame oil and soy sauce (not shown).

Very authentic Malaysian-style Prawn Mee. Easily cooked in 5, as long as you have a packet of Tian Shifu sauce 田師傅蝦麵醬料.
Note: Mint from garden

Nasu dengaku - Grilled Eggplant with Miso (and bonito flake on top)

Homemade pizza

Our dinner the night Adrian flew home.
Okonomiyaki, miso soup, grilled chicken wings and grilled vegetables.

Home Improvement

It has been a busy 3.5 weeks since Adrian arrived. Apart from filing the final documents for the visa, we've also been busy buying stuff for the house, going around looking for ideas, rearranging our furniture and cleaning the house. Our new dining table set and coffee table finally arrived and our house starts to look like a cozy little house! Good thing that Adrian enjoys gardening more than I do, now our garden is going through a gradual transformation and hopefully Adrian would still have the momentum to continue to work on the next patch of land. The flowers (except for the lavender) I 'maintained' last year were uprooted and 'beyond repair' after enduring a month-long period of extreme heat and drought.

Adrian has also enrolled in BSF (bible study fellowship) and joined the local Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Starting this week, he tries to study for his exam ('tries' because very often he is glued to the TV watching soccer or news or documentaries) and in the afternoon he goes swimming. Note: I am not complaining because he cooks dinner every day. :)

Herbs that Adrian is growing - Watercress, lemon grass, mint and rosemary. Not in picture: Carrot, coriander, beetroot.
